Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Officially Celebrates the Opening of
Independence Professional Place
Virginia Beach, Va. – November 2017 – Atherton Construction & Development and Parker Burnell Real Estate Group announce the completion of Independence Professional Place at 1436 S. Independence Blvd., located at the corner of S. Independence Blvd. and Commuter Drive in Virginia Beach. The two companies are partners in the office project. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Friday, November 3 at 1 pm.
Independence Professional Place, built by Atherton Construction & Development Inc., broke ground in May 2016 and was completed in February 2017. The two-story office building comprises approximately 16,000 square feet. The building was designed by Kerry Finley of Finley Design, and Brad Martin with American Engineering provided engineering services.
Parker Burnell Real Estate Group brokered the fully leased building for the home offices of Atherton Construction & Development Inc., Parker Burnell Real Estate Group, The Foleck Center for Cosmetic & General Dentistry, Hamilton’s Realty, and VA Mortgage Corp. Nicholas Financial also leased space for one of its local franchises.
Virginia Beach Mayor Will Sessoms, Virginia Beach Business Development Coordinator Michelle Chapleau, President of Atherton Construction & Development Tom Atherton, Troy Parker and Jay Burnell, partners of Parker Burnell Real Estate Group, will cut the ceremonial red ribbon to officially announce and celebrate the grand opening.
“We welcome the newest addition to the thriving area surrounding Town Center,” said Virginia Beach Economic Development Director Warren Harris. “It is a strong statement of Virginia Beach’s development strength to build and open with 100 percent occupancy.”
Atherton Construction & Development, headquartered in Virginia Beach, provides full-service general contracting, construction management and commercial real estate development. The company specializes in health and wellness in addition to its portfolio of office, retail and light industrial projects.
Parker Burnell Real Estate Group provides development, brokerage, leasing and tenant representation. The company was founded in 2013 and is currently involved in the development, ownership and leasing of several retail and mixed-use properties across Virginia and North Carolina.
